Venice is a residential, commercial, and recreational beachfront neighborhood within Los Angeles, California. It is located within the urban region of western Los Angeles County known as the Westside. It is known for its canals, beaches, and the circus-like Ocean Front Walk, a two-and-a-half-mile pedestrian promenade that features performers, fortune-tellers, artists and vendors. The promenade runs parallel to the beach, Muscle Beach, and the Venice Beach Recreation Center with handball courts, paddle tennis courts, a Skate Dancing plaza, and numerous beach volleyball courts. It also includes a bike trail and many businesses on Ocean Front Walk. Along the southern portion of the beach, at the end of Washington Boulevard, is the Venice Fishing Pier.

  • Although it seems like just another beach, due to the size of it and variety of activities involved, there are many locations suitable for great sunset photography. Depends on what people or things you compose your image with, the photo output can be very interesting.
  • Visibility to the sun is wide open as there is nothing in the west, just the great Pacific Ocean.
  • Just like many places in the US, it is very accessible as long as you are driving, but otherwise it can be tricky to get to without a car.
  • There are generally large crowds on the beach but very scattered, so you won’t have to worry about finding space to take photos.
